Gallo Giro Zine Club: October 2026 Newsletter

Hi zine club and happy first of October ༄˖°.🍂.ೃ࿔*:･

Thanks to everyone who came through and had dinner with us last month and to those who popped into our virtual session. Here’s some little highlights we would like to point out:

• One of our zine club members works at Artist & Craftsman Supply Downtown LA! The art shop has been hosting drop-in workshops of various mediums, so definitely check it out. The address: 1917-1921 E. 7th Street, Los Angeles, California, 90021, US
• At our virtual zine club session, Blanca shared the following zine prompt and we want to share it with y’all here too in case you need a little inspo. Heads up, it’s a deep one:

what are you carving out of your life and what creation are you hoping to get out of all that you carve? (pumpkin-carving inspired- think of your current self as the pumpkin and what you carve out as all the things that no longer serve you, whether good or bad)

• Zines mentioned alert! One of our zine club members shared that a graphic novel they’re currently reading mentions zines. Here is the book in case y’all wanna check it out: My Tokyo Summer by Abby Densen & Utomaru

Gallo Zine Club will be facilitating a zine making station during Downey City Library’s Beyond the Book event on Saturday, October 3 from 10am- 4pm ♫⋆｡♪ ₊˚♬ ﾟ

The event is free for all ages and materials will be provided! Find us set up inside the library. The event is music themed so get ready for some music-inspired prompts for your zine-making session. Thanks @clowngirl.doodles for the fun flyer!!

In-Person Session, Wednesday October 14 at 8pm

Make zines, read zines and join us at El Gallo Giro in Huntington Park! Bring your own materials (we will have paper!) and remind your friend we have zine club. Aguas frescas + zines anyone?

Virtual Session, Wednesday October 28 at 8pm

Get your fun, spooky materials ready for a spook-tacular zine club session. Did anyone say trick-or-zine? 🎃🍬👻
